Training for the Etape

Route now announced!!

ÉTAPE DU TOUR 2006 - GAP to L'ALPE D'HUEZ
MONDAY 10th OF JULY 2006


A beautiful stage of 188 km between Gap (Hautes-Alpes) and l'Alpe d'Huez (Isère).

You will discover the legendary climbing of the Col de Izoard, first time ever on the Etape du Tour .
The southern slope of the Izoard is the longest one, with 32km between 4% and 11%.

After a short detour through Briançon, you will climb the Col de Lautaret, the second big climb of the route.

The to finish the stage a huge test riding the 21 turns of the mythical climb Alpe d'Huez.

Sounds Great?

This is a fantastic route for the Etape. In late August we went to the Alps and rode all these climbs. So have some personal knowledge of the route together with downloads of the exact profile and ideas on how to approach the event.

This is certainly a testing route but one that you will get incredible satisfaction from completing... But don't stop to look at the views!!
